Battery Temperature Sensors (BTS) are available as options for products which don't include the BTS standard, or as replacements when necessary. Because the voltage required to charge a battery changes depending on the temperature, a BTS will improve your battery life significantly for outdoor batteries. A BTS gives a charge controller a temperature input so that it knows the ambient temperature and therefore knows at what voltage to charge your batteries.
